Meet Travennial!
Travennial was founded by me, Mariko, a millennial woman in her 30’s. I began my travels at the age of two and haven’t stopped since. I have been fortunate enough to have visited almost 70 different countries and 25 of which I traveled solo. When I’m not discovering the world above land, you can find me scuba diving underwater, pretending to be a Mermaid, and discovering the remaining 71% of the world.
I love every opportunity I can take to travel the world to try local whisky, discover new street artists, and embrace solo travel as a female. However, working for the man means having limited vacation days to use. I certainly am envious of reading stories online of people dropping everything to explore the world, but I also think for me, I quite enjoy the daily hustle and bustle of working a 9-5 every day, daydreaming of where to go next in the world and planning future trips with the help of Social Media. I’ve found that despite working a full-time job, and having a life in NYC, the ability to travel 4-5 times a year, whether it’s over holiday weekends, short getaways and even one to two-week trips, is certainly possible. If I can do it, so can you!

WHY TRAVENNIAL?
The motivation to start this blog occurred while relaxing in a pool with my family on one of the hottest days in Bali, Indonesia. The inspiration unfolded when I realized I had an opportunity to share my adventures with those who love to travel or wish to see how others live around the world. It’s also a space that allows me to let my friends and family know what I’ve been up to. Of course, the incessant plea to create a travel blog from friends and family was a good kick in the peach to share what I have seen, share my travel tips, and inspire them to step away from Netflix and travel the world.
Additionally, I wanted to create a blog that would resonate with millennials who love to travel or are considering travel in the future. One thing going for us millennials more than any other generation is our sense of adventure and, admittingly our tendency to get bored very easily. What better way to satisfy those cravings and alleviate a boring life than by traveling the world and experiencing new views, adventures, food, and more?
So let me show you the world through my eyes as a millennial who travels, for I am, Travennial.
